The recurrent panic attacks (sudden periods of intense fear) that occur unexpectedly indicate a Panic Disorder in an individual. Panic disorder is a state of overwhelming apprehension that has no obvious cause and in which discomfort peaks within minutes.
A person with panic disorder may experience physical symptoms such as breathing difficulties, sweating or chills, racing heartbeat or palpitations, nausea, shaking or trembling, chest pain, etc.
Typically used medication to treat this ailment include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs) such as fluoxetine, paroxetine and sertraline, etc.
